Moroccan tiles: mathematical, artistic, spiritual and cosmological art

Moroccan tiles or Zillij are a universe of colors, shapes, patterns and handmade craft. From the twelfth century onward, the art of Zillij has become timeless in Morocco, an imitation of Roman mosaics. These ornamental technique is a vital decorative element in the history of Islamic art and architecture.Historically, Zillij has been used to make an statement of luxury and sophistication, and also as an iconic expression of art.Zillij or  Zellige geometric patterns are constructed from archetypal shapes. Through the centuries, scientific studies, artistic tradition, and religious believes have transformed it, but it still preserves its handmade production method. Each single mural is made out of handmade, hand-glazed, hand-cut geometrical clay mosaics called furmah, which when joined together give form to the puzzle. A contemplative pattern that can decorate your walls, floors, columns, pools, baths, kitchens, stairs, balconies and courtyards.

Let yourself be mesmerized by these sacred geometries which encrypt the story of a craft practiced during centuries by the artists of Fez, Morocco. Here is a collection of Moroccan inspired backsplashes for our kitchen, mixing the best of this antique practice with some modern looks.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
